Jde o novou expozici v bratislavském Slovenském národném múzeu. Ta byla zpřístupněna letos v polovině května, je zaměřena především na umění sakrální. A hned od zahájení se stala středem zájmu. Jde o soubor 112 uměleckých exponátů pocházejících ze čtyř desítek různých míst svého dosavadního uložení - především farností a kostelů velkých měst, ale i malých obcí z celého Slovenska. Nechybějí tu umělecky zdobené kalichy, ciborie, monstrance, kadidelnice, svícny, relikviáře a další předměty, jež sice měly původně sloužit církevním potřebám, ale svým uměleckým zpodobením a zejména významem překročily původní záměr svých tvůrců a původních majitelů. Jsou obvykle zhotoveny z drahých kovů, tedy zlata a stříbra. Jde o ukázky řemeslného umění zlatnických mistrů žijících od 14. století až po současnost. Liturgické předměty jsou prezentovány chronologicky od nejstarších až po nejmodernější, takže demonstrují nejen dobové charakteristické rysy, ale současně také umělecké hodnoty. Autorky výstavy, historičky umění Alena Piatrová a Ingrid Štibraná na jednotlivých exponátech demonstrují vývoj zlatnického umění, takže i návštěvník si zde může zřetelně uvědomit postupné změny tvarů, technik a výzdoby.
Nejstarším vystaveným předmětem je stříbrný kalich v kombinaci s emailovým dekorem z poloviny 14. století. Raritním exponátem je i gotická monstrance z přelomu 15. a 16. století: pochází z Prievidze a měří téměř sto dvacet centimetrů, je jednoznačně nejvyšší na Slovensku. Nejnovějším vystaveným klenotem je pak zlatý kalich, který daroval Nitrianské diecézi papež Jan Pavel II. během své návštěvy v roce 1995.
Expozice Ars liturgica – Zlatníctvo v službách liturgie, se snaží, podle vyjádření jejího autorského týmu, přispívat ke vzájemnému pochopení, toleranci i názorovému propojení. Nejedná se tu tedy výlučně o katolickou tematiku. Svými liturgickými předměty jsou zde totiž zastoupeny všechny majoritní křesťanské církve, jež na území nynějšího Slovenska působily, tedy kromě římskokatolické také církev Evangelická, Reformovaná kresťanská cirkev, Gréckokatolícká a Pravoslavná církva. Realizaci expozice díky tomu podpořila i Ekumenická rada církví na Slovensku.
